JoSSA officially known as Joint Seat Allocation Authority is a collaboration of Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) and Joint Admission Board (JAB) who were conducting JEE counselling on their own but in 2017 they joined hands together to form JoSSA for engineering candidates. Now there will be an online counseling to all. A memo was signed on 2nd May 2015 and the IITs & ISM Dhanbad was represented by the JAB. The main reason for this collaboration was that students desiring admissions in engineering colleges used to reserve multiple seats to get admissions in top colleges, and which in the end would remain vacant. So in order to stop all this, that collaboration was done.
Now by a single application the students can apply for 31 NITs, 22IITs, 18 IIITs, and 18 GFTIs. For the academic year 2017 the process of filing will start on June, 2017. On July 2017, the first round of allotment of seats will be done.
